Broughton Street area
As one side of Edinburgh's 'gay traingle', most of the bars on Broughton Street are gay fiendly to at least some extent. In this area try the Outhouse (Broughton Street Lane South) or The Street (Picardy Place).
Edinburgh University area
Try the City Cafe (19 Blair Street), Negociants (45-47 Lothian Street) and Iguana (41 Lothian Street).
Pleasence area
Try the Holyrood Tavern (9a Holyrood Road).
Note that the hours quoted are normal opening times, but during the Festival most bars have extended hours.
It's also worth noting that street names in Edinburgh aren't always what they seem to be. In particular, Greenside Place and Baxters Place are actually just rows of building on the same street called Leith Walk. In fact Plant Out and CC Bloom's are just a few doors from each other.
